We are looking for a broad variety of skills:

  • Multi-lingual

  • Nurse (non-clinical role)
  • Bookkeeping / Accounting skills
  • EMT or Paramedic
  • First Aid/CPR certified
  • Work with Disabled persons
  • Work with young persons
  • Work with the elderly
  • Military Veterans
  • Good with paperwork/registration
  • Connected with Community or faith based organizations
  • Unaffiliated Medical Personnel
  • Emergency Response Planners for business
  • Carpenter/contractor
  • Counselor/Psychiatrist/Psychologist
  • Connected with Service Clubs or organizations
  • Fire Reservists
  • Fire Academy or Fire Science students

Goals:
The mission of MRC is to serve citizens and communities throughout the United States by establishing local teams of medical, health and other volunteers to strengthen the public health infrastructure and improve emergency preparedness. To accomplish this mission, San Francisco MRC will train and prepare for a large scale disaster while providing volunteer opportunities that assist San Francisco's readiness. All members of the community are encouraged to volunteer for various support functions in a manner appropriate to their skills or training.

Training:
The San Francisco Medical Reserve Corps unit members will meet the National Program Office Core Competency Goals . Attendance in the NERT training, hands on training provided by the San Francisco Fire Department, will help to achieve this goal. Below are links to mandatory and optional training opportunities for San Francisco MRC members.

The training is designed to address Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery.

First Aid and CPR San Francisco Paramedic Association or American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter or equivalent AHA certification. Must keep current.

There is tuition for this course in addition you will receive the following:

$8 for Red Cross Certifications
1. Emergency Response - good for (3) years
2. CPR for the Professional Rescuer - good for (1) year
3. Oxygen administration
4. Disease prevention & Transmission

$20 for Cal State Fire Certification
"Emergency Care of the Sick & Injured" good for (3) years.
