4.28 Fire Sprinkler System Coverage Requirements for Balconies and TerracesReference: NFPA 13, 2002 edition, Section 8.14.7
Purpose: To establish when balconies and terraces need to be provided with fire sprinkler coverage for buildings of combustible and noncombustible construction.
When balconies and terraces are more than 4' wide and deep and they have roofs or overhangs immediately above them, they will be required to have fire sprinkler coverage if protected by an automatic sprinkler system throughout the building.
